The Village Players christmas pantomime
Adventure in pantoland
Wednesday 4th to Saturday 7th december 2019

A group of four standard pantomime characters - the Dame, the Principal Boy, the Principal Girl and the helpful but inept Simpleton - are tricked out of their home in "The Land of Make Believe" by the evil Witch, losing their memories in the process.  They then have to assume the lead roles in a succession of traditional pantomimes in order to re-establish their identities.  They work their way through various different pantomimes before recovering their memories and their true identities.  The various scenes are all linked by the continued machinations of the evil Witch and her hapless assistant, Wizbad, the wizard. You will instantly recognise the familiar mini-pantos portrayed.  The characters are easily recognisable by their dialogue and actions - this is a very clever story which we hope will appeal to all.

The Village Players play
Wednesday 13th to Saturday 16th May 2020 7.30 p.m.

An hilarious farce by Ian Hornby.

Peter Graham, T.V. series hero, seeks refuge at the country rectory of his mild, clerical Uncle Humphrey from all the females who continually chase after him and, in particular, from Pixie Potter. Humphrey, horrified by the threatened loss of his housekeeper who has been dismissed by his formidable sister, advertises for a wife but absentmindedly omits the important word, "marriage." These two occurrences resoundingly shatter the peace of the village. Answers to the ad pour in. The arrival of the dignified, and horrified, Bishop of Lax adds to the confusion. Peter finds the vicarage no refuge from Pixie Potter and even more hectic than the outside world.

Funding Boost for Pilning and Severn Beach Parish Council

Pilning and Severn Beach Parish Council is celebrating a £3,864.00 funding boost from SUEZ Communities Trust for their 'Conversion of Changing Room to Function Room' project.

Pilning Village Hall consists of a main hall, small meeting room, kitchen and toilets. The large football changing rooms attached are no longer used as they do not meet FA guidelines. Funding will allow conversion of the unused changing rooms into a modern meeting/recreation room which can be used by the local community.

Mr Ian Roberts, a local resident who is leading the project said, “This funding will enable the completion of a desperately needed meeting room facility in the Parish.  The rental income generated will be used to improve other facilities in the hall in the future."

Marek Gordon, Chairman of SUEZ Communities Trust added, “SUEZ Communities Trust provides funding awards through the Landfill Communities Fund. We were delighted to be able to offer funding to Pilning and Severn Beach Parish Council.”
